Hi everyone!
We have had two much-needed weeks away from the bus and the road life. As I write this we are heading home from Little Rock, Arkansas where our Tennessee Lady Vols didn’t quite make it all the way through the SEC basketball tournament, despite our singing “Rocky Top” at full volume for three solid days. (My mother’s “Go Lady Vols” cheer cleared out our entire section in about three seconds flat) But we still had a good vacation and now we are gearing up to head back out tomorrow.
It’s been a busy year for us thus far. We had two ten-day trips back to back recently; one of those took us out to Pasadena, California to perform live on the “LifeQuest” and “Faith For Today” TV shows. After our second performance we had to rush to the airport to catch the red-eye to Atlanta. We arrived in Atlanta around 7 AM and went straight to the bus to catch a few winks before singing that evening at First Baptist Church, Woodstock, Georgia for Bro. Bailey Smith’s Real Evangelism Conference. We had a wonderful service that night. The crowd responded very warmly and kindly to us and there is always a great spirit at those events. Herb Reavis and Dr. Jerry Vines brought messages that night and it was a rare treat for us to just get to sit back and hear good preaching. (Our product table was set up next to Dr. Vines’ table and I’m sure I saw him get one of my CDs out of the rack)
We were so tired by the end of the night, as my grandma would say, we didn’t know if we were washing or hanging out.
As you well know, we sing in all different types of venues, from churches to concert settings and even the occasional restaurant
(probably my dad’s favorite kind of place to sing). If you like good barbecue and gospel music, you should have been with us at Tony Gore’s Smoky Mountain BBQ Grill in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee a few weeks ago- a wild time it was indeed. Dinner was served to the crowd, both Tony and my uncle Kirk sang a few songs and then it was our turn. I had been hearing for several days from his fans that Kirk had a special “surprise” in store for me……….
In between pouring sweet tea and singing, Kirk managed to hold up signs to the crowd during my solos, bearing messages such as “Saved, Single and Searching”; “Has All Her Own Teeth”; and so on. This went on all evening throughout two shows! Finally during the last song of the night, I’d had enough and decided it was time for payback. During “Testify” Kirk was dancing down the aisle and had his back to me. I scooped a pitcher of ice water up off a table, sneaked up behind him and dumped half of it down the back of his shirt…..he howled and did a few extra dance steps….the crowd roared. He had to work the rest of the night soaked. Oh well, he had it coming.
Now if you’ll come to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for the Singing In The Sun, April 22-25, you’ll have just as much fun and I promise I won’t pour water on you. We are going to start the week off with a bang- along with great gospel music Dr. David Jeremiah will be speaking. This is the first time we’ve ever been privileged to host Dr. Jeremiah and he will be bringing a message that night on the “Prophetic Timeline” of our world. He’ll be explaining how the current events in our country and the rest of the world are pointing toward Christ’s return. This is a very important message for the times we live in so don’t miss it.
Of course, you’ll also hear some of the best gospel music anywhere by your hosts the Talley Trio, the Hoppers, Ivan Parker, the Whisnants, the Greenes, the Booth Brothers, Triumphant Quartet, the Inspirations, the Collingsworth Family and many others. 5-6 nationally known artists will share the stage each night throughout the week and you’ll hear a gospel message each night. We’re also really excited about a new event this year- for ladies only! Girls, let your men sleep in and y’all come hang out with us on Friday morning. You’ll enjoy speaking by Candy Pfeifer, Susan Whisnant and my mom, Debra Talley. Myself, TaRanda Greene, Mary Jane Carter and Ivan Parker will be providing the music. (Bless his heart. Ivan doesn’t know what he’s getting himself into) It’s all happening April 22-25 at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. Log onto www.abrahamproductions.net or call 1-888-238-6858 for
ticket and hotel information, and when you order your tickets be sure to specify that the Talley Trio invited you.
Please continue to pray for us. We are so thankful for each of you.
Until next time,
Lauren Talley
