Hi everyone! There’s a new Talley Trio recording on the way!

We are right in the middle of a new Trio recording, as yet unnamed. So far I feel we have 6 of the best songs ever recorded by the Talley Trio assembled for this project. Fans of “The Broken Ones” will especially enjoy another Jerry Salley tune called, “Someone Had To Die,” which tells not one, but THREE powerful stories. We are also recording a couple of songs especially for the Christian who is concerned about today’s culture and society, including a poignant ballad called, “Who Will Pray?” GOOD stuff! You can follow our progress from a front-row seat at the recording studio at www.talleytree-o.com.

We are especially excited to sing “Who Will Pray?” at a rally October 15, 2010, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina at LJVM Coliseum. We will be co-hosting the Freedom, Faith and Family celebration along with the Hoppers, the Greenes, Ivan Parker, the Whisnants and the Triumphant Quartet. We are especially honored to have Fox News Channel star, former presidential candidate and Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee as the keynote speaker for the evening. Gov. Huckabee is a former Baptist pastor who is quite concerned about the moral decline of our nation and I know he’ll be inspiring each of us to stand for our faith and proclaim the name of Christ across America. If you also believe that we Christians need to stand up and take America back, we want YOU and all your family and friends to join us in Winston-Salem October 15, at LJVM Coliseum to make your voice heard! Log onto www.talleytrio.com for all the details.

Tickets for the Gatlinburg Gathering and March 2011 Crystal Caribbean cruise are going FAST! If you haven’t saved your spot, it’s not too late…yet. The Gathering happens Labor Day weekend in beautiful Gatlinburg, Tennessee, surrounded by the Smoky Mountains. You’ll enjoy 4 nights of great concerts by the Talley Trio, the Hoppers, Ivan Parker, the Greenes, the Whisnants, the Booth Brothers, Greater Vision, Gold City and many more! You’ll also hear inspired messages from Dr. Herb Reavis, Rev. Mike Whitson, Rev. Jack Lassiter, and gospel music’s resident class clown, Michael Booth, who delivered an spontaneous sermon last year that was so powerful we wanted to hear more! You can get tickets by calling 1-888-238-6858.

The Crystal Caribbean Cruise features many of the same artists and speakers and sails from Jacksonville, Florida March 6-11, 2011, to Freeport, Nassau and Half Moon Cay, Bahamas, along with Key West, Florida. We will have concerts and Bible studies every day on the ship, eat 12 times a day, enjoy the beautiful scenery and ports, all beginning at $699 per person. Really! But you gotta HURRY…all you need to do to register is call 877-234-3767, and tell them you’re going with the Talleys!

Ok, enough of that stuff.

Many of you have asked how my Mamaw is doing since she moved to the nursing home in February. I’m glad to report she’s doing ok and my Papaw still thinks he can take care of her better than the nursing home staff. He goes every day before daylight and stays until she falls asleep that night. I can’t think of a better model of true love and devotion than the family I come from and we always carry a piece of them onstage with us every time we sing.

My mom and I have both just finished our first-ever online classes which were incredible experiences! My mom taught the Confidence Class, hosted by www.talleytree-o.com and she told us stories every week of the people whose lives were changed. A few weeks after she finished that class, I concluded the Songs In The Night Power Study at www.laurentalleyonline.com. The study was based on my new book, Songs In The Night, and I was privileged to work with some wonderful people who have truly seen the power of God come alive in themselves. We’re both so proud of each one who participated. We’ll be offering the courses again at a later date, so keep watching our websites for more information.

To find booking information, to order products, or just drop us a note, you’ll find it all at our websites: www.talleytrio.com; www.talleytree-o.com, and www.laurentalleyonline.com. Please don’t ever stop praying for us- we need it more every day.

You are VERY important to us! We’ll see you on the road soon!

Until next time,

Hi everyone!

I love springtime- for me it means not having to wear a coat anymore, McDonald’s ice cream cones on a hot day, and my allergies going crazy. Well ok, that last one isn’t fun, but spring also brings some of our favorite events. We’ve had a really busy month so there’s lots to catch you up on.

We have just filmed a 2-hour TV special with the Wilmington Celebration Choir for the Inspiration Network, which will be called “A Night Of Worship.” The program will air on INSP June 12. We were also honored to spend Sunday, May 2, at First Baptist Atlanta with Dr. Charles Stanley. We sang several songs in the morning services and “The Broken Ones” will be specially featured after Dr. Stanley’s message on Mother’s Day- next Sunday, May 9. So tune into “In Touch” for some familiar faces! Check your local provider’s listings for both programs’ airtimes. Remember, set your DVRs for May 9 and June 12.

The very same evening, we were part of the “Song Of A Lifetime” event at First Baptist Atlanta hosted by our pal, songwriter Phil Cross. “High and Lifted Up/Hallelujah Chorus,” “The Broken Ones,” and “The Healer” will be included on the “Song Of A Lifetime” DVD due out this fall. You’ll find it at www.talleytrio.com.

A few weeks ago we were part of the most successful “Singing In The Sun” ever! We’ve been talking for months about how great it was going to be and we were not disappointed. We saw 28 people come to know the Lord that week! Throughout the week we got to hear some of the greatest speaking and preaching in America from Dr. David Jeremiah, Pastor Jim Cymbala, and Governor Mike Huckabee, who snapped along with us on “He’s A Personal Savior” and later announced during his speech that he was a prospective member of the Talley Trio. (He’s welcome to play bass anytime)

Mom and I participated in the Ladies’ Conference at Singing In The Sun on Saturday along with Connie and Kim Hopper, TaRanda Greene, Sheri Easter and Karen Peck Gooch. You can see a video of my part of the conference, speaking and singing from “Songs In The Night,” at www.laurentalleyonline.com. We’re going to do the same type of event on Labor Day weekend in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, aka the Gatlinburg Gathering. You can find info at www.talleytrio.com.

There was such enormous response to our March and November cruises this year (which both sold out) that we’re happy to announce another cruise scheduled for March 2011! March 5-10, 2011, your hosts, The Talley Trio, will sail from Jacksonville, Florida to Nassau, Bahamas and Half Moon Cay. We will be joined by the Hoppers, the Greenes, Ivan Parker, the Whisnants and the Pfeifers, with concerts and Bible study on the ship each day. Here’s the great part: prices start at only $699 per person! If you want to go, you MUST register quickly. This cruise will sell out very fast. Previous cruises have sold out in a couple of months, so HURRY! Just call 877-234-3767 to reserve your cabin, and be sure to tell the agent your hosts will be the Talley Trio- this is the way that we help pay for the cruise. We’re also planning something special for our group, and we want you to be included!

Mom and I have both just begun online courses through www.talleytree-o.com and www.laurentalleyonline.com. My mom is teaching “The Confidence Class,” a 4-week study into how the devil’s lies and our thoughts shape our lives and how we can learn who we are in Christ. I have just begun the “Songs In The Night Power Study,” an 8-week, in-depth discussion of the book. We are talking about how to respond to painful events in life and how, through the power of God at work in us, we can go on to live victorious Christian lives. The discussions have REALLY been interesting and we can already see God changing lives. We hope you’ll join us for future study groups!

If all this were not enough, we are also looking for songs for a new Talley Trio recording. If you have written any songs you’d like for us to hear, send them on! You can email an mp3 to info@talleytrio.com or you can drop a CD in the mail to:

The Talley Trio
PO Box 1918
Morristown, TN 37816

There’s always something new going on, so we’ll be back in touch very soon! Log onto our websites to drop us a note, read our tour schedule, and order all Talley products:

My mother-in-law is now in a nursing home. She doesn’t know anyone or even know where she is. She can’t speak or do anything for herself. Just like a baby, she is dependent on others for her every need. Today, I went to visit her and to check on my father-in-law, who sits with her every day. When I entered the door of the nursing home, I was greeted by some of the residents. One lady was watching the birds in the aviary. A gentleman was just sitting in his chair greeting those who came through the front door. The hallways were busy with nurses and aides going about their daily task of caring for the patients.

As I walked down the hallway, I would glance into the rooms and see the people that now call this place home. People who once raised families, held jobs, and just lived life are waiting out their remaining days. It always breaks my heart to see them just lying in bed or sitting and staring into space. I saw two little ladies in their wheelchairs holding baby dolls, moving their chairs with their feet, and talking to themselves. They appeared to be looking for something that is now only in their memories.

As I walked toward my mother-in-law’s room, I saw a decorative plaque hanging on the wall. The sign read Angels Gather Here. Was the sign referring to the precious people in those rooms, the dedicated staff taking care of them, or could it be that angels really do walk those hallways? When I entered my mother-in-law’s room. I saw her sleeping peacefully in her chair completely unaware of her surroundings. I decided that all of those things were true. There are angels that care for these dear ones daily. I believe there are angels from God sitting at the bedsides keeping vigil. And believe me, there is definitely an angel in room 301.

Ordinary days can sometimes turn into extraordinary days if we listen to the still small voice that God uses to prompt us to action. Today I was doing errands in town and decided to go to the bank before an appointment rather than after, as I had planned. I finished my business at the teller’s window and turned to walk out when I noticed one of the bank officers in her office. We often say hello and chat for a minute. I could see she was in her office alone so I walked over to say hello. She stopped what she was doing and said, “ I saw you walk in and I wanted to talk to you, but I didn’t want to bother you with my problems. I know God sent you over here.” I sat down and asked her what she wanted to talk about. Tears filled her eyes and she told me her family was going through some very difficult times. She asked if I would remember them in prayer. Without asking the details, I assured her that I would. As I sat there in her office, I felt that tug and I knew God wanted to me to pray with her right then. I said, “Would it be inappropriate for us to pray right now?” My friend said, “Not at all. I pray with my customers whenever I can. I feel that God has placed me in this position to witness for Him. I’m just the one that needs prayer now.” I thought we would hold hands across her desk, but when I got up to close her door, she got down on her knees by the desk and I knelt with her. After we had prayed and talk a little more, I went out to my car and found one of Lauren’s new cds and took it back into the bank. She was standing, talking to the tellers with a box of tissues in her hand. I could hear one of the tellers saying, “We didn’t know what was wrong.” You see, I had closed the door of her office but didn’t think about the big window that looks out over the bank lobby. I gave her the cd and I told her that I felt like she needed those songs. We hugged and I went on my way. As I went on to my other appointment, I couldn’t help but think about the divine appointment I had just experienced. God is willing to use us, but are we willing to be used? It is so easy to get distracted with our busy lives and only recognize ministry moments when they are in a church setting. I have come to realize that ministry happens in our everyday lives, if we are open and willing. I have come to look for those moments and God never fails to provide the opportunities. I hope you had a God moment today.

Hi everyone!

My “Songs In The Night” book, new CD, e-book, audiobook and downloads are FINALLY HERE!!!

They were premiered last week at the Extra Mile conference in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. We received overwhelming response to the event and the greatest part was definitely hearing the stories of the people who came and getting to know our “peeps” better! We saw 2 people give their lives to Christ at the conference and many others told us how their lives had been changed. We love hearing that more than anything and I know this is the beginning of a lot of great things in this ministry. The “Songs In The Night” book is available in paperback or you may download the e-book (.pdf) or download the full audio version. The “Songs In The Night” album is available on CD or via digital download.

Even though the event is over, you can still continue learning and growing with us, and here’s how:

1. “Songs In The Night” Power Study: Join me for an 8 week study of how to overcome the bad things that happen in life through faith and biblical study. If you attended the Extra Mile, this is a way to follow up, continue and deepen; if you were one of those who asked me to make a DVD of the event, this is for you–the real thing, not just a copy, and much more. We’ll have weekly written lessons with “homework” AND I’ll be on the phone with you every week to talk through the lessons and how they relate to exactly where YOU you are in YOUR life. Our discussion will be private, just among us. It will all happen on my website but in a special “members-only” area protected by your own personal password. We’re going to talk about how to rise up out of the pit and let God transform our thinking. We’re going to see in Scripture how to turn trials into victories. We’re going to learn that we don’t have to live according to our feelings and circumstances, but in Christ, our source of strength.

To order all “Songs In The Night” resources and join the Power Study, click HERE!

2. The Confidence Class: My mom, Debra, will be leading a 4-week study about how our thoughts affect every avenue of our lives, and how we can learn to see ourselves the way God sees us. If you’ve ever felt not good enough, or if you struggle with defeat and discouragement, this class will be a great tool for you to build your confidence and truly know your destiny in Christ. Her class will work a lot like mine- shortly before the class begins, you’ll receive a login password which will enable to you access the private website for the class. You’ll receive weekly lessons and homework and will be able to interact directly with her and other members of the class.

For four weeks of “confidence building,” click HERE!

One more thing: We just learned today that there are only 40 cabins left for the November cruise. Here’s the skinny:

November 9-15, 2010. We will depart from Charleston, SC and sail aboard the Carnival Fantasy to Nassau and Freeport, Bahamas and Key West, Florida. Joining us will be the Hoppers, the Greenes, Ivan Parker, the Whisnants, the Pfeifers, and the Crist Family. We will have concerts and Bible studies on the ship and also enjoy all that the ports have to offer. The cost for the cruise is only $749 per person for an interior stateroom, or $799 for an oceanview stateroom. That’s a steal.

But you’ve got to act quickly! If you want to go on vacation with us, you must call and reserve your space today. We expect the cruise to be sold out by the end of the week. Call 877-234-3767 to register. You will be asked who your tour host is, or who your favorite group is. Be sure to tell the agent that your host is the Talley Trio. We are going to do something special for those who sign up with us, and we want you to be part of our group!

There’s always something exciting happening and we don’t want you to miss a thing! So keep watching your inbox- you’ll be hearing from us again soon. April tour dates are listed below…hope we see you soon! God bless-

Hey y’all,

Ever tried to type at 70 miles per hour?! The bus is bouncing down the interstate but I’ll do my best to coherently tell you everything that’s going on with the Talleys these days. We are right in the middle of some really exciting activities we want you to be part of with us!

We have just returned from our third trip to Norway. The Norwegian audience is always great to sing to and this year at “Singing In The City” we were joined by Reggie and Ladye Love Smith. We had a great time together and you can see a highlight video of our trip at www.talleytrio.com. My favorite part is our Norwegian translator’s attempt at a Southern accent We’d never been to Norway when they had so much snow and the scenery is breathtaking. Great week.

We got some exciting news the other day- “Life Goes On” is a Dove Award nominee for Southern Gospel Recorded Song of The Year! The Dove Awards will be handed out at GMA Week on April 21. We were also honored to learn that SoGospelNews.com announced the Talley Trio as the most played group of 2009. SoGospelNews’s chart recognized “My Hope Is In The Lord” as the number one song of 2009 and “Life Goes On” came in at number four. Big thanks to everyone who requests the music, plays it, and votes for it…it takes everyone for the message to be heard.

We are SO excited about The Extra Mile: Dig Deeper, Go Farther conference on March 20! I chat online every day with people who are coming from all over the country. In Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on March 20, we will host a day of ministry including seminars from myself and my mom, Debra, lunch, and music that evening. I will be speaking and teaching from my new book, “Songs In The Night,” and that evening I will premiere my brand new album of the same title. Mom will be teaching about how our lives are shaped by our thoughts and how we can learn to refute the devil’s lies with the truth of God’s Word. We’ll both be sharing a lot of personal experiences and showing you in Scripture how God has led us and taught us. Lunch will be provided, and that evening, we’ll come back together for two concerts: the “Songs In The Night” premiere and then the Talley Trio will close the evening. We have also just announced a “STRETCH” option for this week only. You may stretch your payment of $87 over two months, with a $45 payment this week and a payment of $42 automatically charged March 15. On March 15, we’ll hold a drawing and 3 winners will have their second payment WAIVED!

The Extra Mile is more than just a conference, or a book/CD launch, or some concerts. It’s a new beginning for all of us in our spiritual lives. It’s a day of renewal. It’s a chance for us to stretch our minds and our faith. It’s an investment in YOU. It’s going to be a life-changing day and it will not be the same without you! Click here to be a part of it!

If that’s not enough for you, we’re also co-hosting Singing In The Sun again this year, April 20-24, in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. In addition to all the top groups in gospel music, we’re especially excited about the featured speakers. This year we’ll be enjoying messages from Dr. David Jeremiah, former presidential candidate and Arkansas Gov. few! You can get tickets and special hotel rates at www.abrahamproductions.net.

Mike Huckabee, and Pastor Jim Cymbala of the Brooklyn Tabernacle, just to name a The same type of event will be November 9-15, 2010 aboard the Best of the Best Fall Fantasy Cruise to the Caribbean. Your hosts, the Talleys, along the Hoppers, the Greenes, the Whisnants, the Pfeifers and Ivan Parker, will be singing and you’ll also enjoy inspired Gospel messages every day. The cruise leaves from Charleston, SC and tours Freeport and Nassau in the Bahamas and Key West, FL. Here’s the best part: it’s only $799 per person. Seriously. No joke. All you gotta do is call 877-234-3767 to reserve your space. And don’t forget to tell them that the Talley Trio is your host group.

We’ll be swinging through Texas this week and the dates are as follows:

02/25/10 in Greenville, TX at Ridgecrest Baptist Church

02/26/10 in Crockett, TX at First Baptist Church

We’d love to see you at some great events this week!

One more thing: I’d like to ask you all to pray for our family. This week, my dad’s mom (“Mamaw”) moved to a nursing home after a successful surgery. She’s doing quite well, but it’s a big change for our whole family, especially my Papaw. Please pray that the Lord gives us all strength and comfort during this time.

We couldn’t do what we do without your prayers and your support. This ministry is for the Lord and for you- we want to reach as many people as we can. We truly thank you for your sharing in it with us.

Hi everyone,

We’ve just returned from our trip to Norway. It takes a couple of days to feel normal, but I think we’re getting there. We always enjoy seeing our friends in Norway and it’s amazing how much at home we feel there. We have gotten to know many people and renewed our acquaintances from the last couple of years. Here’s a shout out to Aud, Johan, Marita, Aud Karin, Mette, and Roger. We always have such a good time with them and this year we also spent time with our friends Reggie and Ladye Love Smith. Reggie and Ladye were on the program with us along with several Norwegian groups at Singing in the City in Stavanger, Norway.

The one thing I always come away with when we travel out of the country is that no matter where we’re from, we are all the same. Our customs, traditions, and even food may be different, but human beings are the same. Life’s issues that we deal with are global. During a prayer time with our hosts, it dawned on me that as we were praying together in our different languages, God didn’t have any problem understanding any of us. There was no interpreter needed because prayer is a heavenly language. The only barrier there is is the one we erect by not talking to our Heavenly Father. Whether our prayers are in a different language, or beautifully crafted words or just a simple cry of the heart, God hears each one. The only prayer that is not answered is one we never pray. Whatever your prayer is today, be assured God hears each one.

The times that we get to be home and go to our home church are few and far between, but just a couple of weeks ago, Lauren and I were able to go to church on Sunday. There was a good crowd and we had to sit in the balcony. From our vantage point, we could see the entire choir, orchestra, and pulpit area. During the worship portion of the service, my eyes were drawn to the orchestra. The orchestra was small that day and one man stood out to me. He was an elderly gentleman playing the bass fiddle on the right side of the stage. He played with skill and dedication. His part didn’t stand out, but he blended with the other instruments to create beautiful accompaniment for the choir and congregation. I realized I had seen him before. We had been there during the Christmas holidays when he was asked to give a testimony for the Lottie Moon missions offering. This dear man had been a missionary for 40 years and spoke about how much the support of the local churches had meant to he and his wife as they served for all those years. He spoke with passion as if he were delivering one of his sermons from those days. He finished and walked back to his place in the orchestra where he now serves. He could be traveling around now and speaking to crowds about missions and be applauded for his service to God, but he uses his gifts now to serve the Lord in the local church. Service isn’t about spotlight, it’s about obedience. Opportunities are everywhere to serve the Lord in all kinds of ministries. What has God asked you to do? Be obedient to His call and your life will be richer for it!

Every Christmas, I’m reminded of past Christmases. My favorite one is the year Lauren was born. Since she was born two weeks before Christmas, we decided that we would exchange our gifts before driving to Tennessee to Roger’s parents house the week before Christmas. Roger had bought a large stocking with her name written in glitter across the top and we put her down in it and took a picture. (It’s too cute – you should see it!) After dinner one night, we wrapped her in a blanket and laid her under the tree with all the gifts. Roger and I sat on the floor and began to unwrap our gifts to each other. I would hand him a gift and he would open it, look at her, and cry. He would hand me a gift and I would open it, look at her, and cry. I really can’t remember a thing I received that year, because not one gift could compare to our little gift God had given us that year. I imagine that Mary must have felt much the same when Jesus was born. As she wrapped her baby in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger, she must have praised God. Wise men came and brought priceless gifts to honor Jesus birth, but nothing could compare to the gift God had given her.

As you open your gifts this year, give thanks for your blessings and remember with each one you unwrap the greatest gift every given to man. Jesus Christ, our Lord. Merry Christmas!
